Volunteer at Island Community Farm

Spend time immersed in nature as we work together in the pollinator garden and food forest at Island Community Farm.

What is a food forest? A food forest incorporates a permaculture system, mimicking a natural ecosystem and providing ecological functions, such as sequestering carbon and rebuilding organic matter in the soil, while producing nuts, berries, and other foods - for animals and humans.

With several interacting layers - as in a natural forest - the permaculture food forest is a dynamic perennial polyculture, designed to become a complete and stable ecosystem.

We will have garden gloves and tools available to use, but feel free to bring your own.
