An action-packed summer employment opportunity for Newport youth

Biking between five garden sites managed by ACT in the North End of Newport, the Root Riders team members will find exciting summer employment that will teach them how to grow food, learn basic sales and business skills, and get lots of exercise while engaging with and serving their community. The Root Riders program is designed to empower youth as they learn to grow, harvest, transport, and sell produce in the North End neighborhoods.

ACT is looking for energetic Newport high-schoolers to apply to join the program: Beginning on June 28th, Riders will work 20 hours a week, Monday through Thursday, for six weeks, ending on August 5. Contact Root Riders Program Coordinator, Anjali Gordon, at anjali@aquidneckcommunitytable.org to learn more about this exciting opportunity.
If you know of a high school-aged youth who may be interested in applying for this summer job, please share these flyers and the short interest form.

We appreciate the support of a grant from Powered by Prince to make this program possible, in addition to an ongoing program partnership with the Housing Authority of Newport.
