We made it through this challenging year! Here are stories of people and organizations that make a difference in our community: everyone at ACT is deeply grateful for their support and for believing in the possibility that together we can make a better place for all to live.
Let's start with the kids in the picture above - they are students at Pell Elementary School where we work alongside them in their school garden. We don't know who gets more from the experience - us or them? As you can see, they are having fun learning how to plant garlic, and we can already imagine the expressions of wonder on their faces when they see what has happened to those dusty old bulbs come spring time. This program is made possible through the generosity of Charlotte and Paul Marshall, with additional support from The Newport Public Schools Foundation, Big Green, and the Whole Kids Foundation.
Before we tell stories, we also want to thank many of you for contributing to our programs this year. THANK YOU! You make a difference!
To make a gift before the year ends (did you know that the CARES act has made it possible to deduct up to $300 in charitable donations even if you don't file an itemized return?) As if that wasn't enough incentive, ACT's mahvelous board members will match all gifts up to $5,000 received by Saturday. We are so close to meeting our goal of $15,000!
