Local food hero, build more gardens, new market location and other news

This month launches a new monthly feature in our newsletter, in which we will focus on a grower, a food business or an individual who is making a contribution to building a healthier, more sustainable food system on Aquidneck Island. We look forward to sharing these stories with you! 

Our first food hero is Charlotte Marshall, pictured here with her husband Paul, and son Forrest, who in January became the sponsor of our school garden program at Pell Elementary. We built the garden in 2018 with support from the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, but have struggled to secure funding since then to not only offer the program, but also to make it accessible to more students, which is when Charlotte stepped in saying "I would love to help with that!"
