About the Farm

Island Community Farm was established in 2012 when local residents concerned about the threats of climate change, food insecurity, and a lack of sustainability, banded together to make a difference in their community.

In partnership with Aquidneck Land Trust, from whom the farm is leased, 45 garden plots and one micro-farm are available for annual lease to island residents committed to growing organically and cooperatively. The farm also hosts a food forest and pollinator garden thanks to funding from the Merritt Neighborhood Fund, Eastern Conservation District, Rhode Island Conservation Districts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service of the US Department of Agriculture.
