Our markets offer fresh, locally-grown foods, with all goods grown or made by the vendor within a 50-mile radius.
Winter 2017 - 2018 Vendors
The market is open every Saturday at Newport Vineyards in Middletown from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. year round. We also operate a summer market on Wednesday afternoons on Memorial Boulevard in Newport from mid-May through October. In the unlikely event that a market must be cancelled because of extreme weather a posting will be made on our Face Book page.

ABOUT OUR MARKETS
We strive to provide easy access to seasonal, regionally-grown food and greater awareness of the benefits of eating fresh local foods for our health, the strength of our local economy, the viability of agricultural life, and the future of our earth.
Our marketplaces feature both organic and conventionally-grown products that include fresh vegetables, cut flowers, herbs, fruit, plants, eggs, breads, baked goods, meats, seafood, cheese, salsa and prepared foods such as tacos, burritos, and Middle-Eastern foods. Both markets feature a changing roster of local artisans and food businesses.
The Newport market encourages shoppers to arrive by foot, bike, and scooter, as parking is limited in this downtown location. Bring a blanket to picnic in the shade of this lovely tree-lined street, just a short walk from Easton's Beach, or downtown Newport. Our markets are supportive community events where all are welcome to shop, snack, listen to live music, and meet and greet neighbors. With more than 25 vendors at both summer markets, and regular attendance by hundreds of shoppers every week, these are lively places to visit. When visiting on summer Saturdays, please note that pets are not permitted in the market square at Newport Vineyards.
We participate in the Fresh Buck system that allows customers to buy market tokens with debit, credit, and EBT cards for purchasing from all vendors. The same system allows us to offer Bonus Bucks (an additional $2 free for every $5 withdrawn) for fruit and vegetables to SNAP program customers. Click here for more information about this program. Many market vendors are also able to accept WIC and Senior Citizen vouchers; check at the Welcome Stall for a map of their locations.
Our Food Scraps to Compost program offers customers the ability to drop off food scraps for composting at Island Community Farm where it will enrich the soil of community gardens. Check here for details of what can be composted. You can currently rent a compost bucket with a tight-sealing lid for $20 from our Welcome Stall, but in order to sustain this program the fee will change soon!
This effort to keep reusable material out of the municipal waste stream is supported by sales of our market tote bags — which saves using those darn plastic carrier bags, now banned in Newport and soon also in Middletown. ACT fully supports this initiative and chooses to support the bag ban ahead of the November 2017 date by no longer offering plastic carriers at our markets. We offer a Bag Share Bin for those who forgot to bring their bags: customers may borrow one when they and need, and share any extras they may have.
